2025 Summer Student Online Learning Program Registration
Registration Dates: Registrations for the 2025 Summer Student Online Learning Program will open on Monday, June 2nd at 8 AM and close on June 23rd at 4 PM. Interested students need to send a message to their school counsellor about the course they wish to be registered for by June 2nd.
Course Start Date: Online courses will begin on June 26th.
Course Limit: Students are permitted to take one course only (no exceptions). World Issues 120 is limited to students who were in either in Grade 11 or Grade 12 this school year. Students are expected to commit to 2 – 3 hours daily for the course.
Important Considerations:
- Before registering, please ensure that students plan to commit to completing the course on time and are prepared to work consistently every day.
- Many students have underestimated their ability or willingness to dedicate the required time, resulting in unsuccessful attempts.
Info for Students
Q. What do these courses look like? Is there a syllabus?
A. These courses are condensed versions of the regular distance courses, following the same curriculum as other courses. For general information about the courses, visit the New Brunswick Virtual Learning Centre course description site. While there isn’t a specific syllabus, students will have access to a complete course checklist once the course opens.
Q. Can a student who can only start on week two, works a summer job every day, or will be gone for a week in the middle still take a course?
A. In short, no. This opportunity is not suitable for students who cannot fully commit to the required timeframe and hours. The courses are completed in just four weeks and demand significant time and effort. Students must actively participate from the start of the summer session.
Early Registration Benefits:
- Registering early helps secure a seat and assists us in planning and hiring teachers.
- Individual courses will run based on sufficient enrollment.
- Confirmation of any changes will be provided later in June.
Contact Information:
- The registration form includes two fields to connect with students in case of account issues:
- Student contact phone number
- Student personal email (not the student school email)
- Consider including a parent’s contact email address in the Special Information section to prevent delays related to NBSS account issues.
- Advise students to verify that their MS365/NBSS accounts are functional before the course begins.
No-Fault Exit and Student Expectations
Students have the option of not receiving a final mark if they choose not to record the outcome. This flexibility accommodates changes in student circumstances and recognizes that some students may be unprepared for the course they are attempting. However, we emphasize that students should approach the course seriously and work diligently to stay on track. We actively monitor progress and will remove students who fall significantly behind or fail to meet expectations. Our goal is to ensure that students are well prepared for their next educational steps. It’s important to note that removal may occur due to a lack of accessing the course or failure to adhere to due dates.
