Help Support BMHS Reach for the Top Team

The BMHS Reach for the Top team secured a spot at Nationals in Ottawa this June. Reach for the Top is the academic Jeopardy-style team competition. We are actively looking for corporate sponsors for our five players. We have two tiers: the $500 silver tier and the $1000 gold tier. If you have room in your budget to send a player to Nationals, please contact coach Natasha LeBlanc at natasha.leblanc2@nbed.nb.ca

The Reach for the Top team is also asking for donations of hotel points or vouchers for their trip to Nationals. If you have any to donate, please “reach” out to Mrs. LeBlanc.

SAVE the DATE

Our Reach for the Top team will host a fundraising evening of trivia games, music, snacks, and fun on Friday, May 24 at 7PM here at the school cafeteria. The cost is $100 per table (teams of four) for community members and $200 per table for corporate/businesses. This trivia game promises several rounds, increasing in difficulty with lots of fun challenges to earn more points. Later in the evening, speed will also be a factor, so it is an extra challenge to determine the ultimate trivia team. At the end of the night, the top team will earn their trophy and play our school team for the bragging rights.  The proceeds will support the costs of sending the Reach for the Top trivia team to Nationals.  Contact Natasha LeBlanc at Bernice MacNaughton High School to register. May 5th is National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2Spirit.

At BMHS we would like to take this opportunity to highlight that this Sunday, May 5th is National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2Spirit.  According to the RCMP, there are nearly 1200 missing women & girls in Canada, although it is believed that the number is likely much higher. Indigenous women, girls and 2spirit people are 5 times more likely to go missing or to die under suspicious circumstances.  To raise awareness on this important issue, we will be displaying the red dress symbols, in the foyer along with the names of missing or murdered Mi’kmaw women and girls. We encourage students to pause and reflect on this important issue and to encourage our political leaders to take action.
